Lieder Buch Song Book

Ach hasset die Sorgen Oh hate the concerns
Ach hasset die Sorgen, verjaget sie gar,

der Himmel bescher uns ein fröhliches Jahr!

Wir wollen den neuen Kalender ansehn

und alle die Monat mit Freuden durchgehn.

Oh hate the concerns, dispel them too,

the heavens give to us a cheerful year!

We want, in the new calendar, esteem

and all the months with joys throughout.

January at first the earth stiffens,

Saturn becomes strong, the water becomes hard.

Now begin yourself the merry kingdom,

one drives with sleighs, snow-covered is the path.

In Small Horn (February) so calls one the carnival out,

there calls it: You brother, we have a feast.

Boiled meat, roast meat of many types,

that has for us the cook with the fire made.

In March the farmer the oxen harnesses,

works the fields, seeds the land.

He plants and grafts all the trees in the country,

that bring us all into cheerfulness.

Aprilis bekleidet die Erde mit Klee,

bald bringt er uns Regen, bald Sonne, bald Schnee.

Andreas träumet in süßestem Schlaf,

April dresses the earth in clover,

soon brings it us rain, soon sun, soon snow.

Andrew dreams in sweetest sleep,

to be Venus and shear those sheep.

In May, then is everything with flowers decorated,

so Hillary his sweetheart a bouquet presented.

All small birds sing and pair themselves then

like Saturn and Venus as woman and man.

In Fallow Month (June) carries one from straw a hat.

Then green the fields in freshest courage,

then stands the sun at highest position,

then thirst the fields and humans in the land.

In July so is one in cheerfulness flushed.

Soon thundering, soon raining, soon blowing, soon lightning.

Seek sickle, seek scythe, the harvest begins,

the fields stand pregnant, the food comes on.

Augustus läßt sammeln zur Scheuer der Frucht,

dann werden die Nüsse in Büschen gesucht.

Wer will es dann wissen, was öfter geschieht?

Da werden die Nüsse gar häufig gemischt.

August lets gather into the barn the fruit,

then are the nuts in shrubs found.

Who wants it then known, which more often occurs?

Then are the nuts frequently mixed.

September, there brings us the fruits still more,

brings apples and pears and what we desire.

He does them together and does them in droves,

now comes the winter, that everything consumes.

drum singet und springet zusammen, was stimmt.

Be merry, the Wine Month (October) brings to us strength,

from grapes is pressed the magnificent juice.

Thence us, mankind, to the cheerfulness brings,

that singing and jumping together, as is right.

November has us also a gosling fattened.

John runs to good neighbor Death and invites the guests.

Andrew takes everything to the cellar to store.

The wild pig, approaches the hunter then.

What yeilds us then finally the Christ Month (December)?

Then was increased the number from two to three.

Then were the carp together fished

if one the other by heart loved.

The months behave then all thus:

The first makes amusement, the next makes glad.

The third planting, the fourth make wet,

the fifth brings joy, the sixth makes fun.

The seventh brings warmth, the eighth treats,

the ninth brings food, the tenth entertainment.

The eleventh a wine, the twelfth makes desire,

so are we the months already all aware.
